Set up a Blogger Custom Domain with 1and1 Hosting - Tutorial

Many people using Blogger face issues of setting up a blogger custom domain as Blogspot do not provide direct nameservers as usually people get to point domain server to hosting server. Well, I have explained the tutorials on setting up custom domain on blogspot with godaddy, 1and1 and bluehost etc. within Still Innovative Domain and Hosting Section.
In this tutorial, I'll be explaining the easiest and working method on how to set up a blog with 1and1 hosting provider. Though, Still Innovative is not at 1and1 but one of my fellow's domain is working at 1and1 so, in the following guide I have used his domain and 1and1 panel to show you the complete set up of blogger custom domain using 1and1. I am sure, after this tutorial you will be able to set blogger custom with all other hosting providers too but not only for 1and1 specifically.

What I am assuming?

  • You have purchased a domain already from 1and1 domain hosting.
  • You have already set up a blog on blogger and now you want to add custom domain on it.

If you haven't done the above then, you first have to do them and then continue reading this tutorial.

Step 1: Login to 1and1 Control Panel or 1and1 Dashboard using 1and1 Customer ID etc. and then, click on Domains Tab > Manage Domains.

Select the domain for which you want to set the blogger and then click on Edit Domain Setting.

When the Edit Domain Setting Loads, scroll down and See the DNS Setting. Click on it and click Edit.

After loading, in the second option for Name Server Setting > Select 1and1 Name Servers ( most probably, it is already selected unless you have changed them for any other server.)

Scroll Down on the same page and set A/AAAA Records (IP Addresses) - the address to which your domain should point to Select Other IP Addresses and add 216.239.32.21 as Record.

Step 2: Go back to Domains Tab > Select your Domain ( if more than one ) > Manage Domain Setting > Expand Sub Domain Overview. Create a sub domain for your domain. Add www in the sub domain name.

Once you have created subdomain with www, it will start appearing in the Sub Domain list as I have shown above. Simply click on it. And move to its DNS Setting. > Click Edit.

Simply scroll through the DNS Setting of the newly created Sub Domain and come to set the A/AAAA records for it. Select CNAME and add ghs.google.com in it.

Step 3: Now, log in to your Blogger Dashboard > Settings > Set up a Third Party URL for your Blog

And then add your web address as www.multiplestuff.com in my case. Click Save!

You'll see some Errors, don't worry. Simply copy the 2nd Host / Label Name

Step 4: Go back to 1and1 Control Panel at the same location above to create a Sub Domain for this label name. Create a new sub domain >  add your copied label name from Blogger Setting as Sub Domain Name > Save it.

Get Back to Blogger Setting and now copy the Destination or Points To URL.

Now, again click on your newly created Sub Domain, when the page loads, Click on DNS Setting  > Edit > In the A/AAAA Records select CNAME and in the box paste your copied Destination URL.

Step 5: 2nd Last Step! Once, you have save the settings as I described above. Get back to Blogger Custom Domain Setting > Add your domain name with www and Click Save! If you have created 2 sub domains with Cnames correctly, and A Record for main domain then, your domain will be saved successfully!

Important and Last Step! : Once you have saved the setting, Click Edit in front of the saved custom domain and then, TICK the Redirect yoursite to www.yoursite.... etc. So, that you all URLS points to only one domain.  And Save!

Well, (Sigh!) This was all! :P I hope I have explained the pictorial form well,  for your guidance! If you have done well with my help then, do not forget to stay in touch with us!
